ANNOUNCEMENT
We want to let our community know that HBA Support has recently been impacted by a data security incident within Beacon, the external third party system we use to safely store and manage some supporter information.
Beacon has informed us that copies of their database backups were likely downloaded during this incident. This may include some supporter contact details. No payment information, passwords, or donation data were involved.
Based on everything we’ve been told so far — and after reviewing the limited information we hold — we have assessed the risk to our community as very low. There is currently no indication that any information has been published, shared, or misused. Beacon has engaged external cyber‑security specialists, secured its systems, and reported the incident to the relevant authorities.
We want to reassure supporters that HBA Support’s own internal systems were not compromised and remain safe and secure. We are monitoring Beacon’s investigation closely and will continue to take all appropriate steps to protect our community.
As a precaution, we encourage supporters to stay alert to any unexpected emails, calls, or texts that reference this incident or claim to be from HBA Support.
Please remember:
HBA Support will never ask you to disclose passwords or payment details by email.
Avoid replying to unexpected messages or opening attachments you weren’t expecting.
Check links carefully before clicking them — if in doubt, DO NOT CLICK, visit our website directly.
Never make a payment or donation in response to an unexpected request without confirming it’s genuine. (We use Local Giving as our primary donation platform.)
If you receive a suspicious communication claiming to be from HBA Support, please don’t reply or click any links. You can forward it to support@hbasupport.org so we can review it.
We’re sorry for any concern this may cause. This incident originated within Beacon’s own systems, not ours, and we will share any meaningful updates as their investigation continues.
Thank you, as always, for your trust and support.
